The creation of Santa Dust and eventually
Magic Dusts began many years ago when
my children were toddlers. As a parent I am
a true believer in the magic and innocence
of childhood. At Christmas time I would say
to my children: "now how is Santa going to
know where we live. With all the apartments
in this city and all the houses in this world -
how is he going to know which one we live
in? He can’t go to them all – he’d never make
it to all the children in the world - we have to
guide him along the way."
So together – in our kitchen – we mixed
some oats that I found in our cupboard -
added some glitter for it’s sparkle and a
teaspoon of cinnamon for it’s smell. We then
mixed our potion together in a large bowl
and put it into plastic bags. We called our
creation "Santa Dust". We would them walk
around our neighborhood and sprinkle our
magical "Santa Dust" all over our doorway
and along nearby streets with the hope of
guiding Santa and his reindeer to our door.
People along the way were enchanted and
always wished the girls good luck. Never fail
- Santa would arrive to squeals of delight
the next morning.
Our 4:00 p.m Christmas Eve walks became
a tradition in our family and neighborhood
and took on a life of their own. Every year
a few more children were added to our
"Santa Dust" walks - each child sprinkling
a little "Santa Dust" to help guide Santa
and his reindeer to their doors.
"The oats and cinnamon are for the
reindeer - and the sparkle lets Santa
find you ..........where ever you are!"
Well, I decided to market my magical "Santa
Dust" and to my delight everyone I spoke to
loved the idea. The tremendous response to
"Santa Dust" spurned the creation of an
entire line of dusts that I now call "Magic
Dusts". Magic Dusts were designed to be
used for every season and celebration of life.
I hope my Magic Dusts line brings as much
sparkle and magic into your lives as it has to ours.
